Best Parents

Sadiksha Khadka, Grade 4

Best Parents

You picked me up so many times,

When I was just a child,

You dried my tears when I was sad,

You kept me by your side.

You tried to teach me right from wrong,

Although I didn't know,

Punishing me hurt you twice as much,

A feeling you couldn't show.

You tried to make me go to school,

To do my very best,

You wanted me to see the good

And shelter me for the rest.

So many times I hurt you,

With cruel words I'd say,

You know I didn't mean them,

And you love me anyway.

Now as I am older,

And I look back on time,

I owe you for my success,

Because you kept me in line.

If I had the chance to change my life,

And change my family,

I wouldn't change a single thing,

Because the best parents belong to me.
